R omance of the Rail

Janet Skinner -Artist; Pauline Reckentin - Author. History in art and word - a book with reproductions of more than sixty paintings of railway stations, locomotives and workshops in Queensland and New South Wales. As well as painting numerous Queensland stations, Janet interviewed the people who used and worked at the stations and those who have worked to restore steam locomotives and preserved railways. Pauline turned the interviews into a wonderful story to accompany the paintings. John Kerr took on the role of Editor and he and his wife Ruth are publishing the book. The result is an attractive 88 page hard cover book in full colour and also includes a small selection of Eric Marggraf's black and white photographs from the 1960s. To make the book readily available, the price has been kept at $24.95 at least until the end of the year; plus postage and handling.
