When travelling to Laidley by train you pass through several different areas. Firstly there are Brisbane's western suburbs with plenty of houses; then there is the city of Ipswich; then the small communities of Walloon, Rosewood and Grandchester (formerly farming areas but these days being developed for housing) before the tortuous climb of the Little Liverpool Range and then the descent into Laidley.

The Laidley Spring Festival will be in full swing with the Laidley Flower Show, Street Procession,  Orchid Shows, and Arts and Craft displays. There will be time there to explore this prosperous town with its 3 hotels and many shops.

The train meanwhile, will run a local tour over "the hill" to Grandchester and then return to Laidley.
