Sydney Tour

Monday 27th July to Tuesday 4th August

CountryLink XPT

It's been a few years since we have had a tour to Sydney, so by popular demand we have arranged the following excursion:-

Monday 27th July: Departing from Roma Street station at 7.30am on the XPT, we head through Brisbane's southern suburbs before encountering some grazing land followed by the scenic border ranges. The border is crossed in a tunnel and we then proceed through the NSW towns of Kyogle, Casino, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Kempsey and Taree before arriving at Dungog. This is where we alight and spend the night in a comfortable motel.

Tuesday 28th July: There'll be a little time this morning for you to have a look around this pretty little town before we catch a railcar to Newcastle. This may be one of the 2007 vintage "Hunter" cars. After changing trains at Newcastle (or perhaps Hamilton) we continue to Sydney on a double decked interurban EMU. Our hotel in Sydney is an easy walk from Central station. The rest of the afternoon is free. (Breakfast Included)

Wednesday 29th July: A historical day today! First up is the Bus Museum at Tempe where there is a great range of ancient buses. Then we proceed to Loftus and the Sydney Tramway Museum for a tram ride. A trusty Sydney CityRail service returns us to the city. (Breakfast Included)

Thursday 30th July: The "Cockatoo Run" operated by 3801 Limited is a diesel-hauled train that runs down the scenic Illawarra coastline with the sea below. At Unanderra the train turns inland and climbs the escarpment with great coastal views, to Robertson or Moss Vale. We travel with them today, returning to Sydney in the late afternoon. (Breakfast Included)

Friday 31st July: We leave Sydney temporarily and head for the Blue Mountains. Tongiht we stay in Katoomba but there will be ample opportunity this afternoon for you to visit such sights as the Three Sisters. Dinner at our hotel is included. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

Saturday 1st August: An electric train will take us to Zig Zag for a ride on the Zig Zag Raiwlay's preserved steam train (probably with an ex-Queensland steam engine up front)! In the afternoon we return to Sydney. (Breakfast included)

Sunday 2nd August: More history today as we proceed to Thirlmere and visit the Rail Transport Museum for rides and an inspection of their site. (Breakfast Included)

Monday 3rd August: From Central station we take an Xplorer to Moree, arriving there about tea-time. Dinner is included tonight. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

Tuesday 4th August: Crisps' Coaches will collect us from our motel and convey us to Brisbane where we should arrive about 4.00pm. (Breakfast included)
