Operations
The figures for the months November December and January were 49 44 and 45 respectively which follows the long time trend of us getting lower numbers during the hotter months. As we head into Autumn we hope to see the numbers pick up again. There were also 4 diesel drivers for a day done during those months as well.
The steam driver for a day program which was mentioned in the December newsletter finally has a starting date, the 27th of March, and will be available on specific dates after then. Ray in the office now has all the details if you wish to book a day call 3252 1759, the cost is $395 per person + GST ($434.50 total). A list of available dates should be available on the website as well.
Maintenance
Over the past few months we have tried running our trackwork days on the first Sunday of each month, some have been quite successful but a combination of weather and the number of workers have made them not as successful as they could have been. During the month of January we have been doing a lot of resleepering in the S bend ensuring that we have the required standard. I would like to thank those again who helped with spiking the day before the Jan running day to ensure that we could run on Sunday 31st January.
During the last couple of months we have also been putting in an effort cleaning up Kunkala yard of a lot of the miscellaneous bits and pieces that seem to have accumulated over the years. Recently we have sold a lot of miscellaneous scrap metal which is improving the look of the yard as well as providing us with some extra income which can then be put to good use in restoration.
