Rosewood Railway Report

Operations

Due to the failure of a superheater element on C17 720 the September and October running days were run with Red Fred with the numbers of 68 and 40 respectively. There has also been several diesel drivers for a day during the last two months as well which is encouraging.

On the subject of driver for a day we have recently gained approval from the rail safety regulator approving our procedure so we can once again run steam engine driver for a day. I anticipate that the program will begin in the New Year and any members who wish to participate I urge to check the website or send queries to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Maintenance

As mentioned in the operations section C17 720 was failed during the August running day due to the failure of a superheater element which has since been fixed by sourcing replacement elements. As of November C17 720 is operational once again.

The carriage workers have continued to work on Red Fred over the last two months with some repainting occurring. However the carriage working department has recently suffered the loss of Owen Betts who has decided to call it a day after working at RRM on the carriages for the best part of 10 years. Anyone who has ridden in or seen CLV 1566 can see the quality of work and effort that Owen has put in over the years. Thanks Owen!

Track maintenance as most of you will know is a task that must be constantly worked on to keep in good order and the last few months has been no exception with approximately 35 sleepers replaced in the S bend. I would like to thank those who helped get the track back together just before the November running day to ensure we could run the next day.

I would also wish all the members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the staff at the Rosewood Railway.
